Former US treasury secretary Lawrence Summers is leaving the governing body at the ChatGPT creator, just a week after a collection of digital correspondence between him and deceased financier the accused trafficker became widely known.

Summers stated in a statement that he was "grateful for the chance to have contributed, excited about the promise of the organization, and anticipate tracking their advancement".

The former Harvard president, who once led the Ivy League institution, declared on recently that he would be stepping back from public responsibilities due to his association with the convicted sex offender.

Following the economist's announcement on earlier this week, the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning research organization in Washington where he was a prominent member, announced that he was not connected with the organization.
