"We support him. Full support," Adebayo said. "You support him through and through. That's our brother ultimately."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra commented: "Terry is a person who is very dear to everyone. He's had a real positive impact on our locker room.

"We send our thoughts and our care for him as he faces the situation."

Portland additionally secured their initial match since the arrests, with Brazil-born Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Chauncey's non-attendance and guiding the squad to a convincing 139 to 119 victory against the Golden State Warriors.

"We all had great experiences with Chauncey and his coaching style," Splitter said. "Our thoughts are with him and his family but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' by Recent Events

Addressing the detentions for the first time, league head Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the fairness of the competition," he told a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.

"We investigated that situation and were open regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the NBA is unable to.

"So, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they announced yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover two and a half years after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in justice to Rozier.

"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."
