Per recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a official statement that the prison’s warden was “helping” Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for executive mercy.

The exact content of the clemency request remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for her and her guests.

The visits reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her associates to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Further perks allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Context and Developments

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, she was transferred from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any commitments to the President or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
