Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear in the upcoming Hunger Games film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Comeback for the Franchise
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The film welcomes several prominent actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
