It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.
